Complete a separate online application for each service address.Complete the online rebate application and include the required documentation.Read the Terms and Conditions on the application.Improve your home’s heating and cooling systems by cleaning or replacing furnace filters and scheduling routine system maintenance to help air flow through the system more efficiently.To submit a rebate application, complete the following steps:.Unplug old refrigerators in garages or basements that might be used as storage, but are inefficient and not fully utilized.Set refrigerator temperature between 37° and 40☏, and your freezer at 0☏.The Lighting Facts label can help you compare brightness (lumens), light appearance (warm to cool) and operating costs. Switch to ENERGY STAR qualified LED bulbs.Use your dishwasher at full capacity, and air dry dishes instead of using the dishwasher’s drying cycle.Set your water heater to 120☏ and use efficient showerheads.Keep the blinds open during the day – the sun will help to heat your home. Cover drafty windows with a heavy duty, clear plastic sheet on the inside of window frames during winter months.If you are replacing your thermostat, consider a programmable thermostat or a smart thermostat technology to automatically adjust the temperature. When you are asleep or out of the house, lower the setting by several degrees. When you are home and awake, set your thermostat as low as comfortable. Install a timer to control the length of time that the pool pump cycles on. You may find you only need to run your pool filter six hours a day. Keep on reducing the time as long as the water appears clean. If you have a pool: consider slowly reducing pool filtration time by 30 minute increments daily. Set your water heater to 120º and use efficient showerheads.Įliminate, or deactivate, extra freezers or refrigerators if you can, especially if they spend the summer outdoors or in a garage.Plug home electronics, such as TVs, DVD players and computers into power strips and turn off the power strips when the equipment is not in use. Unplug appliances and electronics when not in use.Clean the lint filter in the dryer after every use and wash clothes in cold water – many detergents are now formulated to be efficient in with cold water.When possible, it's best to avoid the use of major appliances between 2 and 8 p.m. Avoid heat-generating incandescent lighting and use a microwave, toaster oven or outdoor grill instead of the oven. Minimize indoor heat: run the dryer and dishwasher at night on hot days and let your dishes air dry.Use ceiling and portable fans to stay comfortable.
